There's a zero percent chance that they actually planned on releasing the first Sonic model. It would have taken way more than 3 months for any studio to change a model and render it.

It’s literally such a good movie & I’ve never been much of a Sonic fan. My kids had so much fun watching it. I’m hoping the 3rd one is better than the second. 😅
