She is direct and says: *I also felt something for Jim.* Anyway, in the next episode, Michael underestimates her and assumes she doesn’t have the courage to be a manager, even giving her a boring task. This leads to her walking across the coals and, for the first time, expressing how she feels to everyone. **THIS IS NOT ABOUT JIM**—it’s about her letting out how she’s felt all these years, with everyone underestimating her and not caring about her. You can see that, with all the adrenaline, Pam turns to Jim and finally says what she’s also always wanted to tell him. She didn’t intend to confess her feelings to Jim right then; it just all came out—it all exploded at that moment. It’s also worth noting that Roy was the only romantic love Pam had ever known. She ended up normalizing his behavior, and in her mind, the “right” thing to do was to marry him and suppress her feelings for Jim. Jim confessed his feelings, left the next day, and came back dating someone else. What did you expect her to do? Accept Jim’s feelings while still being with Roy? Or call Jim and ask him to come back after he had already moved to another city? At that point, Pam wasn’t brave enough to be honest with her own feelings. It’s at the beach where she finally explodes and, unintentionally, speaks about her feelings **for the first time.** I really like the moment when she apologizes for saying all of that in front of Karen but adds that she doesn’t regret finally saying it.
