Opal made it through the night 🙏 here’s what we know: - they did bloodwork again and have seen changes in her results since Friday (just 3 days ago) - they did do neurology exam and nothing indicated neurological issues so assumption is that her body is extremely weak - she’s going on a feeding tube in order to precisely control electrolytes and calories since she is very dehydrated - her glucose levels have dropped since Friday (just 3 days ago) - her temp is normal but extremities are cold, keeping her on the table in a heating pad - they are going to do an ultrasound today if she’s more stable to see if there could be any blockage - if her bloodwork continues to take a nose dive, her rescue has authorized a blood transfusion The current assumption is this is all just a result of her past neglect making her unstable. Since the day we got her out of the shelter, we have been consulting with various vets on her care. It is not uncommon for a dog in Opal’s condition to decline or fade over a short period of time, so every moment is crucial for her. She has a wonderful medical team working on her and we will be working closely with them over the next few days to ensure Opal can return home in good health so she can continue on her recovery journey.
