The Special Adviser, @hadiza_balausman and her CRDCU team also visited the Ministry of Police Affairs, where she met with the Honorable Minister, Ibrahim Gaidam, present at the session were the Ministry's Permanent Secretary, representatives of the Police Service Commission, and Senior officials, including Heads of Departments and Agencies under the Ministry. During the session, Bala Usman presented a detailed performance scorecard, highlighting the achievements and challenges of the Ministry and its agencies over the past year. The scorecard covered areas such as police reforms, capacity building, poor and inadequate implementation of the reviewed police training curriculum and the operationalisation of community Policing through the recruitment and training of constabularies, and improvements in law enforcement operations. The presentation identified critical areas for improvement and proposed actionable solutions to enhance the Ministry's effectiveness in ensuring national security such as training of Ministry, NPF and Police Trust Fund (PTF) officials in data capture, monitoring, and report writing to improve the clarity and precision of their reports and submissions to support their performance The interactive engagement provided an opportunity for in-depth discussions on the Ministry’s strategic priorities, with a particular focus on enhancing police-public relations, addressing security concerns, and improving operational efficiency within the police force. The meeting concluded with an agreement to strengthen collaboration between the Ministry, the Police Service Commission, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure sustained progress in law enforcement reforms.
