i tested this out last year, 3 plants pruned, 3 plants I just let go. had 3 times as much fruit on the ones I just let do their own things

I saw a tomato farmer say pruning heavily isn’t the biz however most people have such a short growing season they succeed despite it. But watching wild tomatoes will tell you how they love to grow.

You should avoid to compost nightshade plants aka potatos and tomatoes; it breaks down slowly and adds a risk for spreading diseases and mold. Burn them and use the ashes instead 👌

Are you forgetting photosynthesis? Less leaves means less photosynthesis means less food to the plant means less fruits from the plant. 😏
