@fourthhousesociety: This is where it all began… The Vampyre - Influenced by Lord Byron and written in 1819 as part of the same contest that birthed Frankenstein (The Modern Prometheus) by Mary Shelley. This is considered the start of legitimate vampire literature. Carmilla - Written in 1872 and is the first lesbian vampire character. It’s short by very good and well worth a read. Dracula - Even though this was written in 1897 it is still one of the most beloved and well known pieces of vampire fiction. It shapes vampire culture in literature and film to this day and I can’t wait to see the new adaptation. Dracula’s Guest - Published posthumously in 1914 as a short story, this is believed to be the original first chapter of Dracula. Definitely worth reading if you’re a fan. @universalpicturesuk @Universal Horror UK #nosferatu #lilyrosedepp #billskarsgård #nicholashoult #emmacorrin #roberteggers #dracula #bramstoker #carmilla #thevampyre #vampires #vampirebooks #horror #horrortok #BookTok ##horrorbooks#horrorbooktok
