as a non dnd player i love these skits but am also very confused by them. ending on path to the grave leaves me with questions.

Fall damage ignores immunity or resistance to non magical bludgeon/piercing/slashing, since those immunity/resistances specifically mention “attack” and fall dmg isn’t an attack.

My answer: tarrasque hp is maxed. It still has 90 hp. It eats you. Sure, the rest of the party may take it down, but you’re very dead.

Never understood why DMs get upset when their players find innovative and unique ways to deal with massive monsters or bosses. Yeah, it may have only been one or so turns, but still an amazing way to beat a boss.

this is why I liked the inclusion of the "DnD is not Physics" note in the DMG section of play etiquette to players lmao

The monk dealt fall damage to the Tarrasque, and the tarrasque isn't immune or resistant to fall damage, the attack doesn't need to be magic in this instance.

The rules of dnd don't allow for momentum based add-ons to damage. "Congrats... you did 1d8 of unarmed strike damage, doubled by your path to the grave."

so many people commenting that have very obviously never DMed and are also very obviously the problem players at their tables who insist on metagaming everything to death and ruining the others' fun

moving mach 1 on 1 round already killed the tabaxi before he reach the tarrasque, mean his unarmed strike is no longer magical, death ward is used when he reach his max speed, & death when hit target

"Fine, have your moment" 🙄 is exactly why this table wouldn't be for me. Rule of cool remains and DMs shouldn't be upset at being part of a cool story just because their boss falls quickly

wouldn't the attack he "made" by going directly into him as the unarmed strike and the impact damage is still nonmagical?

As someone who’s wanted in on D&D for years, and someone with 160+ hours on BG3, I’m imagining this scenario as it would look in BG3. Quick question, path to the grave does what exactly?

Chunky salsa rule was always one of those trump card rules. If it would reduce you to salsa, none of the other rules matter.

Technically speaking, the whole “nonmagical attack” thing is irrelevant here, since this is VERY magical. This is a magically boosted high-speed projectile.

At that point you just let the party have it, that’s the most awesome moment I’ve ever seen

My thing is (with limited experience) you're playing a creative game, and get upset when your players come up with a creative (mostly in-rules) solution to a BBEG?
