@percijay_fantasyauthor: Probably my most controversial writing advice…but I still stand by it. It all boils down to “Have I used this idea before?” And “If I have, is it a deliberate callback?” If it leans toward repetitive, I CUT IT! It’s how you can give your readers a lot of information without dragging the pace along. And yes, “walking through the market” scenes and feelings check-ins are still considered “new information.” 🥰 #percijay #authortok #writertok #writingtips
Every sentence sounds exhausting. Every scene or even multiple times in a scene seems good

“learning smth new” doesn’t have to be worldbuilding or info-dumps. It just means everything you’re communicating has a purpose, and that CAN BE emotional, characterization, tone, thematic, etc

i’ve heard that when writing dialogue, it should always been telling the reader something. because of this, i find it difficult to grow relationships showing their personalities

I disagree, seems like a slippery slope that leads to info dumps. New info should be worked in constantly, yes, but not that often.

I just re wrote episode 1 of my show with this advice but instead I made it "new information every 2 minutes" and oh my GOD it's so much better

I feel like some will hear this and possibly just info dump so maybe elaborate on the fact that you mean their thoughts and emotions and reactions too

every sentence should be about plot, character development, or setting. If it's not, take it out!!
