@blurrybutblooming: LASIK took my away my dream job AND independence permanently. Since I was a little kid, all I ever wanted to be was a police officer and I worked my ass off to get there. I studied hard, stayed focused, and did everything right. When I finally made it, I felt like I was exactly where I was meant to be. I succeeded at the job time and time again. I was GREAT at this job, and i LOVED every second of it. …then LASIK came along and ruined everything. They told me it would make my eyesight better, that it would make my life easier! A quick ten minute fix! But instead, it destroyed my career and my entire life. The recovery didn’t go as planned, and the complications made it impossible for me to keep doing the job I loved and live life as i used to. Just like that, everything I worked for was gone. I went from the most independent person in the world, to be becoming incredibly dependent on others overnight. It feels like I was robbed of everything I’d built for myself. This wasn’t just a job I lost—it was my purpose and my dream.
