The first day of college was supposed to be exciting. At least, that's what everyone kept telling Kim Minjeong. "Freshman life!" Aeri had announced that morning like she was opening a new chapter of a reality show. "New school, new people, new experiences!" Ningning had practically dragged Minjeong out of bed. And Minjeong? She had spent the entire ride to Kwangya University with her earphones on. Music playing. Eyes half-closed. Expression completely uninterested. "She's excited," Ningning said sarcastically from the passenger seat. "Very," Aeri agreed. Minjeong didn't even look at them. "I'm here to study." Aeri turned around from the driver's seat. "Study?" "Yes." "Not to make friends?" "No." "Not to meet pretty girls?" Minjeong finally removed one earbud. "I'm literally here to get a degree." Aeri grinned. "Okay, Miss Academic Pleaser." Ningning laughed. The three of them had been best friends since elementary school. They had practically grown up together, which meant Ningning and Aeri knew Minjeong better than almost anyone. They knew every embarrassing phase. Every bad haircut. Every secret. Every crush. Especially 'that' crush. As they walked toward the university quadrangle, Aeri suddenly nudged Minjeong. "Actually, you should look around." "Why?" "There are probably lots of pretty girls." Minjeong sighed. "I'm not flirting with anyone." "Who said flirting?" Aeri teased. "I'm just saying, look around. Maybe you'll find someone." Ningning snorted. "She can't." "Why?" "She's still stuck on her greatest crush." Aeri immediately laughed. "Or maybe greatest love." "Shut up." Both girls burst out laughing. Minjeong rolled her eyes. "That was years ago. I'm done with it." Ningning raised both hands. "Okay, okay." "Totally over it," Aeri added. "Completely." "Absolutely." Minjeong narrowed her eyes. "You two are annoying." They eventually reached the quadrangle and found their assigned seats among hundreds of other freshmen. The atmosphere was loud. People were talking. Some were taking pictures. Others were introducing themselves to strangers. Minjeong just put her earphones back in. Then the student council officers went to the front. "Good morning, freshmen of Kwangya University!" The crowd cheered. The orientation was about to begin. Minjeong was staring blankly at the stage when something or rather, someone caught her attention. A group of girls was walking toward their seats. They were laughing together. One girl was walking slightly ahead of them. Long hair. Bright smile. A familiar way of laughing. Minjeong froze. Her fingers slowly tightened around her earphones. She blinked. Once. Twice. But the girl was still there. And suddenly, Minjeong wasn't sitting inside Kwangya University anymore. She was back in junior high. Back when she was younger. Back when one particular girl had somehow become the center of her entire world. Yu Jimin. The girl Minjeong had spent years trying not to remember. And now she was right there. Older. Prettier. Still smiling exactly the same way. Minjeong couldn't look away. Aeri noticed first. She followed Minjeong's gaze. Then her eyes widened. "Oh." Ningning looked too. "Oh." Minjeong immediately snapped her eyes forward. "What?" Aeri slowly tapped her shoulder. "It's okay." "What?" "We understand." "Understand what?" Aeri glanced toward Jimin. "Jimin is really pretty." Ningning nodded seriously. "We understand why you still can't move on." Minjeong scoffed. "I'm not looking at her." "Of course." "I'm not." "Okay." "Stop agreeing like that." "We believe you." They absolutely did not. And unfortunately, they were right. Because throughout the entire orientation, Minjeong couldn't focus. The speakers talked about university policies. Professors were introduced. Student organizations were presented. Campus rules were explained. Minjeong heard almost none of it. Because every few minutes Her eyes wandered. And every time they did, they found Jimin. sana walang makakilala sa isang pic sa taas HAHAHA anw continuation in comsec #winrina #jiminjeong #au #fyp
