Does laughter from your children in serious moments bring out your gangster? 🫤😬 It used to for me too. 🙃 Every instinct in my body said I needed scream, threaten or punish in order to teach my child the seriousness of the matter… But then I learned how a child’s brain works differently than an adult’s. I learned that children communicate through body and emotions, not logic or reasoning. I learned that the centers that help them retain lessons are accessible when their brain is dysregulated. I learned that children feed off our nervous system so they way *I* show up impacts the way my CHILD will show up. Ultimately I had to become a C.A.L.M. Parent: Connected, Attuned, Loving & Mature Connected to my own inner safety and to her heart Attuned to the underlying needs driving unwanted behaviors and to the root of my own triggers Loving with her is every moment, not just when she’s behaving the way I think she should. Mature enough to model the behaviors TO HER that I want to see from her instead of demanding what I’m incapable of giving. I now walk exhausted and overwhelmed parents through the same process in my 12-week group coaching program, The Transformed Parent. Only 4 spots are left to fill my Spring Groups. Applications (linked in my profile) will close soon and will not reopen until the Summer.
