This little green book (our SA #passport) has a way of telling you exactly how your country is perceived from region to region, country to country and continent to continent. This little green book, a south African passport is the 3rd most powerful passport in Africa behind the smaller Island nations of Seychelles and Mauritius. But there’s a lot behind that ranking. So that’s what I want us to talk, the power of the south Africa passport, its importance when it comes to true freedom of movement for South Africans but also its limitations, limitations created by many things that we as a country have control over and some things that aren’t by our doing but things we can change.. A passport is the gateway to the world, that’s why when you get a criminal record its harder for you to obtain one of these let alone a visa. Now with SA being a developing country, our passport, at least to me, becomes more than just a travel document, our passport defines our financial freedom possibilities because it links directly to our ability to access international investment and business opportunities. The way I’ve always seen it is that the freedom of movement for people when combined with trade for possibilities is how South Africa is going to find prospects and nurture prospects for grow. More of our people need to be able to move around in order to open more opportunities. But our passport currently doesn’t offer as much as we would want, when it comes to economic possibility.
