My first consulting job was while living in Ireland. Never own a car rarely rented one for work. Moved back to the states and first gig was in Pittsburgh in the middle of winter. 1/

i *could* walk to the grocery store, but it’s more than 2 miles away down a road where most people drive 60 and i would have to cross 3 streets

I lived in BC Canada for 4 months and living in a walkable city is life changing. Walked to grocery store, parks, movies, coffee shops, library, and tons of great public transit.

My neighborhood has a 93 walk score, I have not owned a car for a decade and my office is a 7 minute walk. It’s a great way to live I hope I never go back to how it was before.

I live in a smallish town but everything is so spread out it’s unrealistic to walk anywhere!

This! I really just want to tell Europeans who ask this that basically America doesn’t have neighborhood ‘high streets’ like say Britain where there are hubs of business in residential areas

There isn't a single thing I can reasonably walk to from my apartment and not a single sidewalk on my road. I live in the capital of my state

I moved to Manhattan in order to have a walkable city and I don’t even like upper Manhattan because it’s too rural for me.

I can barely manage the walk from my car to the store for half the year. I wouldn’t walk here even if it was accessible

I do walk places fairly often in Oregon near Portland. Absolutely miserable weather and dark 4:15 pm and constant rain, but I do put on my hood and walk to stores and restaurants

I grew up in Boulder CO & as a teen I was able to walk from one side of town to the other in about an hour. When I knew it would take the bus 15 minutes to come, I would just walk. Then I got a car 😑

I live in the extremely walkable downtown of a tiny rural town, but there is little to walk to because nearly every store front is empty and many have be derelict for years if not decades
