The video is choppy but listen closely and you can hear Trump telling Bukele. It goes without saying that sending US citizens to a foreign prison is extremely illegal. This comes as Erik Prince and other defense contractors pitched the White House on a plan to circumvent the courts in deportations. The plan would be to designate part of El Salvador’s massive prison as part of US territory so that moving them to El Salvador wouldn’t be considered a deportation or an extradition. Then once the land is owned by the US, the land would be leased back to El Salvador to run the prison complex and would then have DHS “suspend the ICE detention standards” With the proposal also reportedly saying that Prince’s group would handle the logistics of gathering “100,000 of the worst criminal offenders” from U.S. prisons, holding them at a 10,000-person detention camp and flying them to El Salvador.” They have already pitched this to El Salvador who has reportedly already agreed to this. While Prince’s pitch only mentions “criminal aliens”, one former DHS official said that the proposal is a precursor to deporting US citizens to El Salvador.
