✍️Name Of the Badge: Reservistenabzeichen/Reservist badge 📜History About The Badge: In the German Democratic Republic (GDR), the reservist badge of the National People's Army (NVA) was a non-governmental decoration awarded by the Ministry of the Interior, which was established in three stages by the Deputy Minister and Chief of the Main Staff of the Interior on November 5, 1965 with the order number 23/65. It was awarded to all members of the NVA armed forces who were honorably discharged from active service and thus transferred to the reserves. It also served to promote a sense of solidarity among the retired soldiers. It was first awarded on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the NVA on March 1, 1966 Awarded For: 🥉Bronze: for 18 months to 2 years of service 🥈Silver: for up to 10 years of service, but at least more than two years 🥇Gold: for more than 10 years of service 👔Appearance and wearing style: The reservist badge came in two forms. The first, which was awarded from 1966 to 1968, was in the form of an 18 mm high and 17 mm wide shield-shaped pin, which shows a soldier's head looking to the left in the middle on a bronze, silver or gold background. There is a GDR flag below the head. The badge is framed and at the same time bordered by the inscription: FOR THE PROTECTION (above) OF THE WORKERS AND PEASANT POWER (below). With order number 17/68 from the deputy minister and head of the main political administration of October 8, 1968, the award of the previously awarded pin was replaced by a 36 mm diameter medal. The reservists who had already left at this point were subsequently given the new form in the awarded level. The medal is made of non-ferrous metal or sheet steel and hangs on a clasp. On its obverse, it still shows the head of an NVA soldier looking to the left as seen from the viewer.
