My life as a hospitalist Doctor is really two completely different lives. One is when I am on service. Given my commute, my days are very long, generally waking up at 4 AM and getting home around 6 PM. With this comes a lot of sacrifice of family time which is honestly the hardest for me but I know the reward of this is I get extended time off. During my weeks on service, my training for my fitness goals is drastically, reduced, my sleep suffers some, and there is not much time for other things outside of Medicine. But then I have my weeks off of service during these weeks. I have very little to no obligations and I am able to spend as much time with my family as I desire, and as much time pursuing other things outside of medicine that I desire, although this lifestyle is not for our family. It has been very beneficial. I love my job. I love being a doctor. And I love being a hospitalist! #doctor #lifeofadoctor #hospitalist #workweek #balance #Lifestyle
