I don't think I would've have cried for Sam the way I did if I had already met the others or understood Celaena's relationships with the others without her first loosing Sam.

tbh I started TOG, got almost 100 pages and did NOT feel connected to Celaena Stopped and picked up Assassin's Blade and the absolute RAGE I felt for her made my reading experience for TOG sm better.

Yes! The emotional piece hit me way harder because I was able to avoid spoilers and didn’t know what happened. Then seeing the Easter Eggs while reading the series was very cool!

But to me prequels are designed to be read AFTER you have already read some of the main series bc other wise it wouldnt be a prequel it would just be book 1 and its not book 1
