Carnivores love to cite this study as evidence for the benefits of a carnivore diet, often referring to it as the “Harvard Carnivore Study,” but typically leave out how carnivores were recruited through carnivore Facebook groups and the like, health info was self-reported, and there weren’t any validated diet assessments. If this were a study of vegans, they would throw it in the trash. Also worth noting, participants weren’t strictly carnivore, as some did report eating plant foods and some took multivitamins. Also, none of the markers they reported on were direct measures of insulin sensitivity. There’s also no mention of this “12 week” timeline anywhere. In fact, to even take part in the survey, participants had to have been on their self-reported “carnivore” diet for at least 6 months. Now, she says the findings are supported by another study on the carnivore diet published in the American Journal of Lipid Research, but that seems to be a mistake, which she tried to correct in the video description by citing a study in a BMC journal… but that study also isn’t on a carnivore diet… She then claims there’s a “landmark clinical trial” on the carnivore diet, showcasing “complete remission” of type 2 diabetes, but she again links the Facebook carnivore survey “study,” which is definitely not a clinical trial. What’s particularly funny is that she provides 2 different links for the same study in her description, so I actually wonder if she thinks they are 2 different studies… Also, note how she’s now talking about results after 12 months rather than 12 weeks like she was earlier. And that meta-analysis of carnivore diet studies in the Lancet DOES NOT EXIST and she doesn’t even attempt to provide a reference. But unfortunately, her followers just eat it up. Her references: Carnivore survey - https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34934897/ 2nd study - https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18495047/ Meta-analysis in Lancet – non-existent #carnivore #carnivorediet #maha #animalbased #animalbaseddiet #nutrition #diet #vegan #plantbased #protein #wheyprotein #whey #proteinpowder #eggs #meat #steak #bacon #carbs #diabetes #glucosespikes
