I have been a fan of Ana Huang’s work for quite a while and I have read all of her books. Being that I’ve just started doing reviews here, it feels wrong to backpedal and review everything I’ve read. So I’m starting with the King of Greed—and it seems fitting, because so far, it’s the most important to me. As a romance reader, I’m all too familiar with happily ever after (adoringly so). But it’s easy to forget the middle. Dominic and Alessandra bring to light the very real aspects of marriage—and the fact that without connection, the foundation falls. Dominic spends his time working himself to billionaire status in order to need for nothing and provide for his beautiful wife. With his goals, he allows his marriage to take a back seat. Alessandra offered so much in support of her husbands aspirations, that she is left forgetting the most important part of being a wife—herself. Neglected and hurt, she walks away. Huang depicts the fragility of marriage and how easy it is to lose—even when your choices are rooted in the wanting to win with your spouse. The whys matter less if there is no emotional value connected to the choices we make. The truth is that marriage takes grit. And watching Dominic Davenport show an overwhelming amount of grit to get to spend a lifetime with his wife, is the example of having to continually earn the Happily Ever After. While ambition and drive make for a wonderful adventure—there is so much joy and love in the enoughness. ♥️ #BookTok #bookish #romancereader #books #reader #reading #billionaireromance #bookishgirl #secondchanceromance
