it’s all about responsibility babe, as long as you recognize and manage your mental health and are willing to recognize and manage theirs, it will be okay🤍

My mom is bipolar ur kids will absolutely be affected by it. It’s up to you to make it good or bad. My mom put me and my siblings in therapy early so if one of us had it( which my sister does) they

My husband and I are both bipolar. You absolutely can be a good parent with bipolar. You have a responsibility to your child to manage it and be prepared to help them manage theirs if they have it.

i don’t think it’s so much about the parenting as much as it’s about passing it onto the child

I think putting in the work is what matters. As long as you prioritize your mental health you shouldn’t limit your life experience.

my dad was bipolar. it was incredibly selfish of him to have me, knowing there was a chance I could get it, which I do. yea, it could be fine, but it also could absolutely not be. is that risk worth -

i was raised by a bipolar mother and it wasn’t the best experience, but that’s because she was completely unmedicated for almost my entire childhood. She’s also in denial about her diagnosis, still-

My dad has bipolar. He does his best to manage it, but it genuinely affected my childhood negatively. I'm not saying that's the case for everyone, but it was really difficult for me as kid and teen.

My mom is bipolar and has depression and adhd. She is a wonderful mother. I don’t have bipolar, only adhd & depression. My childhood was rocky, but it’s only because she wasn’t medicated at all.

My mother has bipolar. It will be okay- stay on your meds & take care of yourself. Your worry about this shows that you will be a good mother!

Bipolar tends to skip a generation. I am also someone who debates having kids.. not just because of bipolar. But the BPD, ED, BD, CPTSD that came with it. I am not healed enough for them.

You can be a good mother. Be honest all people have highs and lows. Teach your child the range of emotions. Show her how you try to navigate them and she will mimick you. Apologise when needed

Unpopular opinion- having the correct therapy modality is way more important than the medication. My mom has bipolar and has been on every med under the sun. The most success we’ve had in our relationship is very recently bc she’s finally in the right therapy setting. So focus on that and I believe being a mother would be great for you! Just take care of yourself so it doesn’t bleed onto the kid.

Best I can say is to know your limitations..stay on top of your meds, therapy, and have a good support system to help you get checked in if it hits the fan postpartum.
