@gingerrellina_london: Floral smocking tutorial - sharing a longer video where I show the floral smocking technique in more detail. Start by drawing a grid with 1x1 inch squares. I am using a 5x5 inch grid for this example. You can use an erasable pen for this or tailors chalk. Next, put a cross mark in every other square. These squares will be smocked into flowers. Smock the squares into flowers as shown in the video. Essentially you are putting a small stitch in each corner and then pull the fabric together to create a flower (this requires some wiggling and developing a feel of how to get the petals right). Follow for part 2 which I will post next week. This part will go into detail of how the finish the edges of the smocking I highly recommend to use a medium thick cotton or calico for your first try as it’s easiest to work with. However, I find that you can use most fabrics for floral smocking as long as it is not too thin to hold the flower petals. Please comment if you have any questions and send me your projects if you end up making something based on my tutorial! 💕 • • • • #sewing #fashiondesign #handmade #sewingtiktok #fashiontiktok #sewingproject #diyfashion #sewistsoftiktok #fashion #couture #tutorial
