A year ago I posted this video & although it was the 4th "grandma design" I had created/posted- it was the 1st one that went "viral."It landed me an invitation to have a collection at fashion week, TV interviews/features, and more online articles than I can remember. Objectively (let's be honest here) it's not great 🤣. I worked two months on this & this really was the best I could do with my budget and sewing level at the time. I actually debated not posting this-l was insecure when I saw how it looked on camera when I was editing (& don't even get me started on how my hair looked). I knew there were (& still are) so many more talented creators/sewists on these apps & I felt like I wasn't even close to their level. I didn't let the passing doubts of insecurity stop me & b/c of that so many wonderful things happened for both myself & grandma. I'm reposting this to not only show the progress I've made in a year of sewing regularly, but to also encourage you to not allow your insecurities hold you back. To this day- most of the top comments on my "grandma design videos" have something to do with them looking awful or not like the sketch. I get 1000s of them every time I post a design I create. Do not let others or hold you back either. Instead, I've stayed focused on my goals- which is to bring attention to my grandma's sketches, encourage creativity, & promote connecting with your family & friends. I've had the blessing of being around many people who are older than myself & the number one thing they all seem to agree on is the sadness of regrets and "should haves." Isn't going after the thing you want easier than putting it off & having it haunt you anyways?
