This song is not about a tree or a girl. For you, “Magnolia” can be anything you want it to be. Your wildest dream that never happened, your passion you haven’t had time for in awhile, a relationship that didn’t go quite as planned, a long lost friend, a more stable lover than you chose to love. Whatever you think about a thousand times a day and wish it could of went a little more your way in life, that is what the metaphor for “Magnolia” is in this song. With that said, let me explain the “Magnolia” metaphor in this song in the context of how I wrote it to be from the narratives perspective. In the south they say that in Nashville, trying to “make it” in music is a “10 year town.” “Magnolia” is a story, the storyteller lived in Nashville for 10 years trying to make something big of his dream and love for his music and wasn’t able to make things happen how he planned. After 10 years of hard work in Nashville he decides to move to a desert town and simply play music for fun with his buddies in a smoky bar. “Magnolia” is a metaphor for what he is leaving behind even though he knows the dream will never leave his heart or mind. From a personal perspective, Tonight at midnight marks my 9 year anniversary of moving to Nashville for music, 11/15/2015, but unlike the story in the song I won’t give up on my dream or move away, I’m here for the long haul and to be honest, sometimes the ups and downs of this crazy industry can really hurt an artists heart. I love the hustle and I’m grateful to be here but it is what it is. I don’t do music for money or for fame if that was the case I would have quit a long time ago. I make music simply because I want as many souls as possible to feel the feeling I feel when I make these songs because to me, it is the best feeling in the world. I want to share that feeling//vibe to as many people as humanly possible. That is why I do what I do. Thank you for listening, “Magnolia” drops tonight at midnight on my 9 years in nashville anniversary. I am grateful for your time and I hope that this song hit’s home for at least a couple of y’all. 🤘🏼❤️ - Ty March #CapCut #countrymusic #tymarch #magnolia #fyp
