Im an Indonesian, went to Canggu and Sanur, this is my 5th day in Bali and I feel like this is not my homeland. Most of the prices are for foreignersEven the villa doesn't have a bidet, it am pissed.

It’s just one of over 17000 Indonesian islands. Most of the investment is from Java. Indonesia has been colonised by the Javanese. It’s Hindu - an imported religion. I’d be more worried about the military oppression and occupation of west papua - that’s the real scandal

tourists In Bali cringe me out insanely hard 💀🤣 I get like the need to explore the island and culture but 99% of them don’t even do that. It’s exploitation & greed that comes from there end.

it's extra sad when you consider most Hindu people in Indonesia is Balinese. they don't only get forced to accept western's nightlife, some tourists outright fight against the most sacred traditions

I use to visit Canngu and it was rice paddy fields to the ocean. I haven’t been back since and it’s awful to see online what it is now.

I went to Bali when I was 21 years old. It was a sleepy, little beach island where hardly anyone spoke English. Fast forward 10 years later and it's commercial and crowded.

Bali people source of income is from tourism. Its NOT WRONG to be in bali as a tourist. Its wrong when you exploit their source of income just because you see the demand.

Tourism uplifts their economy. During Covid the locals could not sustain their own economy, and Bali was on its knees. There’s two sides to everything. If not for tourism and development a lot of the locals would be doing backbreaking field work.

Most of Bali is largely untouched by tourists and infrastructure. I think most people only travel to Canggu, seminyak, kuta and Uluwatu and assume all of Bali is like this.. go north or inland

I remember going to Bali after the bombings and there was not a single tourist there. People were desperate. Tourism is their livelihood. Imagine Kuta with not a single tourist.
