The Persian army ariived from the North. Leonidas and his army of well-prepared soldiers attempted to block them off at Thermopylae. The Greek force blocked the narrow pass there succesfully. In this way, they were able to keep fighting with the significant larger Persian army. However, a traitor, Ephiaites showed to the Persian troops an other path that went behind the Greek lines. It quickly became a fight to the death for the army of Leonidas.
