Confession time! Twister might be my favorite movie of all time. I’ve seen it a million times and it’s one of the movies I quote the most. Bill Paxton once said, “this movie’s gonna do for tornadoes I think what Jaws did for sharks.” And he was so right! That movie absolutely terrified me as a kid. Of course I grew up to move to an area that gets tornadoes regularly 😅 When i heard that Twister was getting the sequel it deserves, I was both excited and skeptical. It felt fitting to see it at the drive-in! I loved it! It’s such a fun, popcorn movie. The amount of rizz Glen Powell has is insane. The dude could star in a movie with a wall and the chemistry would go insane. SPOILERS SERIOUSLY YOU’VE BEEN WARNED This is such a solid sequel, but it falls short compared to the original, but just slightly. My criticisms are I just don’t understand that the only reason they’re calling this a sequel instead of a reboot is because Kate’s team is using Dorothy. Like that’s it? And then why was there so much secrecy around her last name? I am so disappointed Jo and Bill aren’t her parents. I was emotionally preparing myself for her visit with her mom and the picture of her mom shows up and it’s Maura Tierney? Like no hate to Maura, but Kate was sounding a bit like a combination of Jo, Bill, and as what I was thinking might be a twist, Melissa! But no, no character continuity at all! So then how did they get Dorothy? They could’ve at least had some continuity with someone from Bill and Jo’s team as like a professor that was helping with Kate’s project or something. But those are my biggest gripes, the science or feasibility of their experiments don’t bother me that much. Absolutely loved that they incorporated livestreaming into the story. Anyway, I’ve been quoting Twisters and it’s been at the forefront of my mind since I saw it and I’m going to see it again.
