Going on a date next Saturday for the first time in years. I used to get really angry for not putting myself out there more/not having connections, but now I feel a bit more ready to be vulnerable

100%. And as an intellectualizer and someone who is never sure what I’m feeling, I’ve also been jealous of people with the almost romanticized ability to feel big obvious emotions & come to permanent

To me it’s just after my last relationship I was too vulnerable and honest and it was used against me and I was hurt in a painful way so now it’s hard for me to do that again

I have been struggling with this myself. I've never actually known how to be vulnerable with other people because of my upbringing. In my family we rarely talked about our feelings and now it's something that I simply don't know how to do. I've been thinking about it more recently and it's scary cause I have trouble connecting with other people, having meaningful relationships, making close friends. I feel like all my relationships are always surface level, noone really knows me that well and it scares me that that'll be my life forever. So if anyone read this and has advice / recommendations (books or anything else) about that it'd be very helpful.
