It’s very likely she has found a mate and has moved onto his territory. She may be getting ready for pups. Maybe she will bring them to your garden one day. And if not, maybe one of them will find their way there on their own. A part of her come back to visit.

I think its that she found a mate. Which would explain the scent marking and sudden departure. Its simply not her territory anymore.

I wonder if knowing that she was approaching elder because foxes only live 3-6 years and that she hadn’t reared any cubs, maybe she’s out trying her best to mate and rear a family before she dies :(
