I was honestly a little scared to post this... I've found so much healing in openly talking about my miscarriage experience and all that was endured. So many women experience this loss and feel the isolation, grief and pain alone, which can make it so much harder. Lessons learned from my miscarriage part 1 ⤵️ 1. THERE'S NO MANUAL You won't know what to expect or what’s normal vs not normal unless you’ve been through it. The feeling of overwhelm may show up and that's okay. Give yourself tons of grace and remember pain can be used for a purpose 🫶🏼   2. THE LOGISTICS ARE A LOT There are 3 main ways you can experience a miscarriage - naturally, via a pill, or D&C surgery. I had a “missed miscarriage” which essentially means my baby was no longer with us, but my body hadn't realized it yet so that's why I wasn't experiencing a natural miscarriage.    It's a lot. The decisions, the sadness, the anger. Based on my experience, I opted for the surgery (which was a mental game for me as I'm a chiropractor and that's not “natural”), but I chose this because my doctor told me it could be 2-4 more weeks before it naturally occurred and since I was so far along in my pregnancy, if I took the pill, all the tissue may not pass and I'd have to get the surgery anyway.   3. ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF It's a very confusing, emotionally charged time. The decisions surrounding your miscarriage care are yours. You will have to advocate for yourself whether it’s with your care or dealing with insurance — ask any questions, and remember you’re not annoying or bothering them, they’re your provider! Gather the essential information and make choices that feel right for you. If things aren't going a way that aligns with you, speak up!    Also, if you proceed with the surgery option, always ask for an ultrasound at your follow up appointment if your doctor doesn't do it because it will confirm if the surgery was successful or not.  I'm always here to support you and listen 🫶🏼 Thank you to all those who've reached out and continue to, I'm grateful for you.   #miscarriage #miscarriageawareness #miscarriagesurvivor #miscarriagesupport #miscarriagemomma
