VALENTINE’S DAY POPTARTS Looking for a fun treat to make for Valentine’s Day with your little ones? Well this is a fun and tasty treat that will sure to bring a smile to your faces. I loved using my @carawayhome bakeware pan for these pop tarts. You can get 10% off your Caraway purchase by using my link: https://ap.carawayhome.com/lovealldesignco10 (link in bio too) R E C I P E INGREDIENTS: Pastry dough:
– 2 cups flour
– 1 cup of unsalted butter cubed and chilled
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1 teaspoon sugar
– 4 tablespoons cold water Filling:
– 8 tablespoons strawberry jam
– fresh strawberries Buttercream Icing:
– 1 cup confectioners sugar
– 3 tablespoons butter (softened)
– 2 tablespoons milk
– 1/2 teaspoon vanilla DIRECTIONS: 1. Whisk together the flour, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Add in the butter, using a mixer or 2 knives. ‘Cut’ the butter into the flour mixture entirely until it forms even clumps. Add in your water, 1 tablespoon at a time and continue to mix. 2. When the pastry dough is made, gather it into a ball, cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge to chill for about an hour. 3. Cut a heart stencil about 3x5” out of parchment paper. 4. Roll out half of the dough on a clean surface which is lightly floured. Use the heart stencil and cut out 8 bases for the pop tarts. Place your pop tarts evenly on a baking tray that is lined with parchment paper. 5. Spread the strawberry jam thinly on the bases, about 1 tablespoon. Add 2 thinly slice strawberries. 6. Put the jam covered pop tart bases into the fridge to chill while you roll out the top dough. Repeat the same process as above. Place the 8 remaining hearts on top and use a fork to seal the edges of your homemade pop tarts. 7. Pre heat the oven to 350 degrees and place the tray in the bottom half of an oven. Bake until the edges of your homemade pop tarts are slightly brown; it should take about 25 minutes. 8. Let pop tarts cool and then decorate with icing and sprinkles of choice. Recipe from Threads & Blooms . . . . #BakeWithMe #bakingwithkids #ValentinesDay #valentinestreat #carawayhome #carawayambassador #pastries #fyp
