Never leave your key in any type of lock, all he needed to do was use the tension tool length ways and the outside cylinder would line up with the inside cylinder and both would turn together and open

A friend of mine did this years ago but the thiefs had a magnet so they opened the door with my friends key on the other side. They twist the magnet and the key turned.

Thank you. People tell me to take my key out of my door, but having been in a gas explosion & fire, those critical seconds that are saved by the key already being in the door are vital & life-saving

Your advice is correct, only IF the door hasn't a glass top. in that case, by leaving the key on, they'd just cut the glass and just take the key, making the burglary piece of cake! 👍
