to give 300 some credit here, the movie is from the POV of the narrator, the guy with the eye patch, as he tells the tale of the battle to his comrades to make the fallen Spartans seem like gods

I love that the framework of that movie, Is that it is literally spartan propoganda by Dilios to persuade the rest of Sparta to join the war. It makes all the inaccuracies intentional!

it's still a story of sacrifice, they stayed behind to buy time because if they all ran they would have been run down by cavalry. lose 1300 or 8000 pretty simple choice
