I love this video. I chose to get a second job to pay off my debt. I still have some luxuries. But I’m paying it off how I want.

When losing weight, they tell you not to cut out foods, just eat everything in moderation. Idk why we don’t apply that to money. I hate the “just buy NOTHING fun” mentality. It doesn’t work.

Th fact the mention cutting cable makes me think this is an elderly person with little idea of how things work now

I will never understand why people think "paying off debt" means don't live until it's done. Pacing yourself, and finding a balanced rhythm, without sacrificing your joy, is the only way to successful

Yup, I'm a big revenge spender if I limit myself too much. Beans and rice is not the way to go. But coffee is (mostly) at home, I utilize the library, Yada yada

tbh as long as you don't incur more debt your debt will eventually be paid off. I'm in no hurry to pay it off, I'm focused on retirement and emergency savings.

It helps me to have “cheat days” incorporated with my budget. I set aside a small amount to spend on whatever I want, and knowing it’s there helps me not overspend. Breathing room aids discipline.

we barely make enough to cover our expenses, like our mortgage and the min payments on debt. it's insane to think we're just supposed to cut everything we enjoy to throw money at the debt

I think it's important to find a sustainable way to pay off debt too because you want to make sure you can keep good habits moving forward!

This. My parents were super frugal debt payoff people. I missed a lot of opportunities because of it. I won’t get my kids everything, but I’ll pay my debt a little slower (and not get more!)

My husband and I are getting serious about this is 2025 also. We plan to budget in the basics like hair appts and entertainment and a few fun things. The goal is to reign in the extra spending and allocate it to debt. It’s really easy to lose track when you’re no longer living paycheck to paycheck.

I think that is great! Sometimes having such a strict plan can cause revenge spending later. Do what works for you.

agree! I have always paid off my debt in chunks and always ended up back in debt because it's about changing the spending habits and the way you relate to money

The key to any behavior change is *sustainability*. If the occasional indulgence helps you stay on track overall then that’s the way to do it for you!
