I live next to a mechanic and he also pays hundreds of dollars each time he has to stay updated to certain makes and be allowed access to their diagnostics.

I sold parts for 8 years. I ALWAYS told every person that reading a code is a FIRST step in the diagnosis process. I would never sell parts just off a code alone.
