Interestingly BBC News official policy in its published style guide is to capitalize initialisms but not acronyms. So, they write “BBC”, “USA”, and “UNHCR”, but “Nasa”, “Fifa”, and “Opec”.

Those that don't have double or triple consonants, and have vowels in the right places, are pronounced as a normal word. It's just natural.
