that's not dirt it's the dye in the dishwasher tablets usually red and blue colour tabs that merge together in the water and make a murky colour

Dishwasher products create more suds. Washing machines are not built to handle this and the residue will build up and cause machine issues

I run mine on the hottest wash and completely empty (no products) to give it a good clean. I've done that for about 20 years now.
