It comes down to the complexity of the task and the outcome criteria. I have trained customer GPTS and OpenAi agents to complete basic tasks with great success. As good as an employee would produce.

We technically already have AI agents with things like computer use. I think your definition maybe a bit strict IMO. Agree though we are early days.

I see what you mean, but isn't it similar with the dishwasher too though - just to stick to your example. You still have to load it, "prompt" it, and review the results - and sometimes rewash. It is still a huge help that eliminates most of the work.

Disagree. A dishwasher is automation and does same to oily an to other plates the same with general detergent. Put paper stuff and it will dissolve it. So "garbage in - garbage out". Data quality!

Agree overall, but don’t think the dishwasher analogy works, AI agents have goal based objectives and make and execute decisions based on information flows coming to them

I think a better analogy for AI agents is a team of people you are managing. You are still responsible and still need to oversee the work.

I agree. As fast and incredible the progress has been even over the last 12 months everything my company and I use needs us (a human) at most stages. I see AI as something that augments me.

There are already some tools that actually do really well with these "agents". But they are more focused on technical people (developers etc).

I also battled with AI agents being unreliable. Spent so much time coding to get mediocre subpar outputs nowhere near the quality needed

Depends on the task...but we've got 4 agents running right now for clients. Saving clients a lot of cost and delivering great customer service.

Agreed.. I’m worried for the businesses buying tools made by people with no/2 weeks coding experience. LLMs are useful but if you don’t understand the problem it will be full of hidden costly issues
