@thekoalapets: Replying to @elle69996 our poor #greatdane and her happy tail syndrome 😭 this is what we’ve been doing for the last 3 months hoping it’ll heal up. But she just takes the wraps off as soon as someone isn’t looking 😭😭
POOL NOODLE!!! I saw another creator and it was worth using the pool noodle

This is the only time I completely understand how docking a tail would be necessary

I'm begging you just dock her tail. Our Dane had happy tail syndrome too, she ended up splitting it open and then we had no choice. The way my vet judged me and rightly so for not doing it sooner.

everyone is in agreement that docking/cropping is okay when it is HEALTH RELATED. I also was always taught that GDs get docked specifically bc not only the pain of “happy tail” is but it’s HELL curing

Dealt with this for months with my pittie, we decided to amputate the tail and it was the best decision we made. I was suuuuper nervous to do it and felt bad because I am not someone who is pro cropping a tail/ears/anything, but he is so much more comfortable now and I am finally not cleaning blood of the walls constantly.

This is why certain breeds have a docked tail in the breed standard

Know you don’t want to potentially harm the baby but maybe this is one of those occasions where it will actually benefit her 🤍🤍

I’m just confused as to why her tail bleeds if she wags her tail too much, is it just because she’s wagging it too fast and it’s making a cut??

As a vet tech unfortunately the best and safest option is to amputate some places won’t amputate the whole tail!

Unfortunately I think the most comfortable thing for her is to dock it🥺

I’d consult your vet! My vet has come up with solutions to things I didn’t even think could be solved.

that’s such a long tail! Is this one of the reasons people clip them?

Its overall less work for you for just get the tail docked. Even if you just do half the tail (if possible) it will be a better outcome for you and your dog.

It gets to a point where it’s just unethical to keep the tail. If it’s been going of for months now, just safely get it docked. As long as it’s done correctly it shouldn’t be painful-

You could take a little piece of pool noodle and wrap it around her tail so it can't smack
