Been blue collar for 20 years. I’m on my 6th company. As you get older you lose tolerance for mismanagement and dealing with people’s bullshit. There comes a time when you feel unappreciated and that’s what does it for me. Never been fired but sure as hell had to walk off to keep my sanity and make sure I’m still on my path.

Sad but true. I’ve met a lot of real cool dudes in the trades only to never speak to them again or see them.

I worked in a fabrication shop building utility/crane truck beds and I learned the final assembly lines, then I was thrown on the HE&M saw to cut frames and learned that entirely on my own, and then I taught myself how to use the 175 ton hydraulic brake press just to be thrown away like trash. I've never seen a more devastated group of people I trained and guided watch me walk away from the machine for the last time

I’ve been with the same company for 5 years now. At this point. I don’t want to leave. I’ve become super comfortable and know everyone. Stating over would suck

It's true. Learn and master everything you can. Knowledge on multiple operations as well as ability to adapt is priceless when big time corporations are looking for a new candidate.
