March 2025 will be 2 years sober for me and whenever I decline alcohol at social events people ask me if I’m expecting. My cheeks get red, I can’t hide my embarrassment, it’s so rude to ask.

I’ve never had alcohol. I normally just say “I don’t drink”. Most responses are “oh” and then no one ever asks why. I elaborate because I don’t care. But it’s wild to me that some people care so much

One of my good friends stopped drinking. I didn’t even know she drank a lot. When she told me she quit, I said that’s awesome. I didn’t know it was a problem but I am happy you are putting you first.

I get asked if I’m pregnant all the time because I’m overweight, and even more if I choose not to drink. My response is always “Nope, just fat.” The horrified look makes me laugh every time.
