I found ADHD masking completely exhausting. But then I realised that the only person I was fooling was me and that I didn’t need to. I realised I wasn’t broken, just different. Which inspired me to produce a song about experiences. It’s called ‘Ghost In The Signal’. It’s on Spotify etc. But it’s maybe not for everyone. I’ve been told it’s very relatable and has brought some to tears

apparently we're "inherently unlikeable". so no point masking anyway. I'm glad I stopped but I wish I knew it'd be impossible to mask again when needed. Once you stop that's it

For me it has been women. They seem more in-tune with social norms, and I get nasty comments for dressing comfortably, not being fake with small talk, etc.

See I worked in childcare several places and saw it heavy in women. They also realize that we have little regard for social hierarchy and wont beg for approval. The lead ladies REALLY dont like that

my daughter is 11, was diagnosed at 8 and to keep her from masking I ask her " do you really feel that way or is that what you think you are suppose to feel", she is fierce creature to behold!

People seem scared of me ever since I quit masking as much, apparently I don't smile much and don't go along with "jokes" or ask them to explain why an insult is funny
