She ran up the pathway and pressed the doorbell over and over again. The chime echoed uselessly inside the dark, empty house. She looked up at the second-floor balcony, no warm lights, no gentle breeze, no Bam. Standing on the porch, Oom let out a choked sob, leaning her forehead against the cold wooden door. Tears burst from her eyes in relentless streams, soaking the dark wood beneath her face. She slid down onto her knees on the hard stone entrance, clutching her stomach as ragged sobs wrecked her entire body. She pounded her small, weak fists uselessly against the doorframe, crying until her throat bled raw, begging an empty house to let her in, to give her back the person who held her heart. Everyone had vanished into thin air. It felt as though Bam, Lena, Orm, and every sweet moment she had tasted had been nothing more than a cruel, beautiful figment of her imagination. Defeated, Oom went home. She walked past her mother without a word, went straight upstairs to her bedroom, locked the door behind her, and never came out. Days bled into one another. Oom never ate, never spoke to anyone, and refused to leave her room. The curtains remained drawn, plunging the space into perpetual darkness. She spent every hour curled up in her bed, buried beneath heavy blankets, crying silently until her chest burned and eyes were swollen and bloodshot. The silence of the room was constantly broken by her muffled, desperate weeping. She would press her face into her pillow, down fabric to stifle the anguished shrieks echoing from her chest, fingers tearing frantically at the bedsheets as fresh waves of agony overtook her. Every quiet tick of the clock was met with another cascade of tears, another silent plea into the dark. Every single day, her mother would stand by her bedside with a tray of food, weeping softly as she tried to feed her daughter.

"Oom, please just a few bites, darling," her mother begged, voice trembling with agony as she touched Oom's pale cheek. "Tell Mae what you want. Please, just tell me what you want, and I'll get it for you. Anything, Oom. Just please eat something." Oom buried her face deeper into her tear-soaked pillow, her shoulders shaking violently as uncontrollable, suffocating sobs tore through her throat. "Bam." Oom sobbed brokenly, her voice raw and completely destroyed. "Bambi. I want Bam." Her mother pulled Oom into her arms, weeping helplessly as Oom clung to her, crying until she hyperventilated, sobbing continuously until exhaustion finally pulled her under into a heavy, restless sleep. On another excruciating night, her mother sat beside her again, holding Oom's limp, trembling hand as Oom wept uncontrollably into the dark room. Hot, endless tears tracked down her gaunt cheeks, pooling at her chin and dampening her collar. "Mae please." Oom choked out, her breath catching in her throat as fresh tears cascaded down her pale cheeks. "I'll be good. I'll eat. I'll do anything. I'll stop searching just bring back Bam to me." Oom curled into a tight ball, clutching her chest where her heart felt utterly shattered, her small voice breaking into an agonizing, desperate cry that echoed through the silent house until her trembling body grew heavy with complete exhaustion, her sobs weakening into fragile, shallow breaths as she finally fell asleep. Her mother leaned over with trembling hands, gently pulling the soft duvet up to Oom's shoulders and tucking her in securely. But even in the depths of unconsciousness, peace remained far out of reach. Fresh tears continued to spill silently from the corners of Oom's closed eyelids, tracing wet, painful paths across her pale skin and dampening the pillow beneath her. Her mother wiped them away with a gentle thumb, her own heart breaking in two, as Oom parted her dry lips in her sleep, letting out a faint, heart-wrenching exhale. "Bambi..." Oom whispered into the darkness, her tiny, broken voice clinging to the only name her soul refused to forget. #oombam #bamsaralee #oomeisaya
