what are the reflexes of baby at birth ? We are not covering all reflexes here but the important ones for this topic. The neck and lumbar reflexes are keys to ensure the primary reflex of survival allowing baby to crawl to the nipple. These reflexes and their quality are the foundation to built strong muscles. Due to the range of motion of the lumbar spine, the lumbar reflex defines the range of motion of the whole back/neck and generally the posterior chains. This will define the quality of the posture of the individual (which needs to be trained all through growth and life to be maintained). The posterior muscles of the neck are attached at the base of the skull occiput), thus, the more the muscles work, the more tension will be imposed on the skull and help shape it, grow it to its best possibilities while the skull is still soft. This will define the ground for the development of the face (bones and muscles), oral cavity (so space for teeth), airways. By extend this will have an impact on the whole body too as the muscles of the entire back will strengthen and develop ensuring a strong musculo-skeletal frame for the rest of the development steps. Stimulating properly your baby from day one of life is crucial to built the ground and foundations for a solid and functional body. Many events, particularly at birth may disrupt the body balance and affect these reflexes and the overall mechanic. Vacuum/forceps, long/short birth, emergency or planned c-section, etc… leading to low neck and lumbar reflexes, latching disorders, vomiting, gagging, deformation of the skull, club foot, etc… Osteopathy has mastered the science and art of these mechanical imbalances and the techniques to reverse them. We will help your baby acquire the best balance possible and provide you the necessary advices to help him grow strong and healthy. #osteopathymalaysia #osteopathmalaysia #osteopathykl #osteopathytreatment #osteopathyhealth #malaysiahealthcare #naturalhealthmalaysia #wellnessmalaysia #baby #pediatrics #kids #development
