Let's talk about the countdown method ... You may already know but I don't like this used for bad behaviour. How come? I believe it teaches kids they can act out in the short term - no repercussions. It's part of my top three discipline methods I don't recommend. BUT here's the thing .. there are times when I recommend countdowns. When would this be? During transitions. Let's say dinner will be ready in 30 minutes ... I think counting down can support these transitions by giving a: 30 minute warning 15 minute warning 5 minute warning That's how I would implement the countdown method as a parenting leader. What if you have three kids and something bad happens, but no one fesses up and who did it? You’ve got to be a really good detective with stuff like this. For this to work, they would need to be three and over. You interview all three of them at the same time, and write it all down, all of the details. Then say okay, now I'm going to interview you separately. Take them separately, and then they'll tell you something different, right, separately. Then interview them again later separately or together, and the stories will change, whoever is lying will often change the story. They are probably the culprit. You just have to get really good at this detective work, but have fun with it. Drag it out. Usually they'll get so bored they just end up fessing up. P.S.
