I'm working on my cybersecurity certificate right now, and I'd say QubesOS is pretty good, Blackarch and Kali are easier to use, but when you're getting more experienced, I'd suggest QubesOS

Personally I use nix and it’s a fine OS even for purposes such as this. For the last 10 years ppl have argued over OS’s but as long as you don’t install bloatware basically every OS is decent enough
