Q&A In the mornings I like to start my day with a simple mix in warm water: one fresh lemon, a teaspoon of baking soda, and a teaspoon of some Himalayan salt. I drink it about an hour before my coffee. The lemon gives me a light vitamin C hit, the baking soda gently buffers acid, and the salt tops off my electrolytes so the ‘machine’ is ready for training later. Baking soda has a long history in health: old-school for heartburn and cold symptoms, and in modern sports science as a mild ‘buffer’ for high-intensity work. I don’t treat it like magic, just a small tool to support what I’m already doing with diet and training. Lately I’ve also been experimenting with MSM (organic sulfur) for joint health and inflammation. Some research and a lot of older lifters say it can slightly reduce joint pain and soreness. I see it as a possible support, not a miracle cure. Sometimes I’ll add the MSM right into that same morning drink. If you try something like this, start with a small amount and see how your stomach and energy respond, and always respect your own medical situation and medications.
