It last just 10-20 minutes and is a magical site! - It happens for just a few weeks in February with the best day usually being the 21st or 22nd - SAVE this post now and set a reminder in your calendar to plan next November or December! ✨What to Know: - It’s a 1.5 mile walk each way to the viewing area on paved roads. There is handicapped parking closer - You need a reservation permit on weekends (this could change in 2026 but will likely be the same) - Arrive early because the parking fills up - Firefall starts about 20 minutes before sunset so plan accordingly - Plan for 2-3 days in Yosemite, the Firefall doesn’t happen every night due to clouds so give yourself a few days ✨How to Photograph it? - my photo gear: 📷 @sonyalpha a7rv 📷 70-200 f/2.8 lent from @prophotosupply 📷 @polarpro @petermckinnon 5 stop ND filter 📷 @peakdesign tripod - I took shots everywhere from 1/125 to 1 sec for some variety, my favorites are around 1/80-1/5 - There is one main viewing area that the park directs people’s too - People stake out their spot for hours but you could probably find one about 30 min to 1 hour in advance if you’re not too picky.
