Idk if you have sorted this… we had our dog do this for a couple weeks we had to stop making him happy until it healed and then now when I walk in the house I let him wag his tail in a safe spot (1/2)

We had our Dane’s tail docked. She had severe happy tail. It started to rot and she was in pain. Once we docked it, she was much happier. Surgery went well. I paid $200. Best of luck. Just watch her.

Former Vet Tech here! Tail docking expense varies by state, but in Texas it ranges from $100-$500 depending on the vet. But from what I’m seeing, y’all are doing great! I love the pool noodle!

I spent 6 months and lots of money trying to save my dogs tail. I did slings, and noodles, vet wrap, etc. Docking ended up working best for us but I hope you’re able to salvage her tail!

My dog had the same thing, sadly it got so bad that the wound never healed, so it got infected, vet recommended amputation because it could infect over and over again, it’s very difficult to deal with

Not sure if you'd be fine with a medicated option or if that's an option where you are but my dog was medicated with fluoxetine, an anti-anxiety medication, for his happy tail. I couldn't bear to get his tail docked.

My greyhound had this and ended up biting off half of his tail he had to get a lot of hit tail amputated because of it make sure it never gets infected or bugs in it🙏

if you do the docking, maybe see if she needs a dental cleaning or anything else (cherry eye, etc.) at the same time. you may be able to get multiple things done at once.

This was years ago, but our yellow lab had the same exact thing. Unfortunately her tail had to be removed but she was still the happiest after and lived a good life! Please feel free to reach out!!

honestly do what's best for the dog, docking the tail won't harm. and it's probably safer for her.
