Tell me if you’ve heard this “advice” before. You go in for your annual exam and mention that you’ve been trying to get pregnant but it hasn’t happened yet. Instead of addressing your concerns, your doctor says: “You’re young!” “You’ve got time!” “Try for a year and then come back if it hasn’t happened!” 😤 I loathe all of these but particularly the last one. While it may be well-intentioned (about 80-85% of women will get pregnant after a year of trying), you need to ovulate in order to get pregnant. So, giving that advice without even checking if someone is ovulating is ✨useless✨ If you have irregular cycles or cycles that are too long or too short or no cycle at all, that’s usually an indication there’s a problem with ovulation. So, just waiting a year won’t solve the root cause of not ovulating regularly.
