@erinmcgoff: @advicewitherin 💸 comment “SALARY101” + I’ll send you my salary negotiation guide (free!) 🔬 According to Forbes, people who negotiate their salary (especially their first job!) make significantly more money throughout their life. 🇺🇸 In the U.S., negotiating your salary is common etiquette! Companies expect you to counter the first offer. The first offer is rarely their best offer. If it is, they’ll usually tell you that. Yet, 55% of candidates don’t negotiate. 😭 BUT, out of those who do? 85% get some or ALL of what they asked for. 🤑 🤷🏼♀️ Negotiating doesn’t have to be confrontational, awkward, or uncomfortable. If you use the right words, tone, and approach, you’ll have the company saying “you’ve got a deal!” in no time. 🫶🏼 I’m SUPER passionate about helping people advocate for themselves and make more money. 📝 That’s why I wrote a complete salary negotiation guide and sell it for $49.99! …jk, IT’S FREE! Comment below (or DM me) “SALARY101” & I’ll send it to you :) You got this 👏 #money #salary #negotiation #careeradvice

I can't imagine making that much money. It would be like winning the lottery.

this only works with corporate or mid level management jobs, unfortunately.

This does not work for 95% of positions out there. If you want to negotiate, they will move on to someone who will take what they offer. Also, with the way the economy is, most times, a job is a job.

I agree with the approach and it used to work. Today, what I see is an upfront statement telling candidates that the offer is non negotiable, and must be accepted as is.

Anytime myself or someone else has tried negotiating even well; they’ve said sorry we’ll move on to other candidates. It has scarred & made me terrified to ever try again.

or we just accept and try for a raise later bc the job market sucks and so many other people applied and they will move to someone willing to take the lower amount

My husband was let go shortly after negotiating his promotion. The company gave him a couple of dollars more an hour after negotiating. The company agreed. A month later he was let go because

In this video they always talk about wages way over 100000. Is that normal in US?

While I’m all for this… my last job offer I got my salary went from 69k to 120k… with significantly better benefits.. didn’t see the need to negotiate more money.

Is there a (right) way to react when the first offer is exactly in line with your expectations? do you still negotiate for more or accept right away?

Strange I just interviewed for a new job that has a small compensation loss and had told them the same thing. Hoping I get the job.

What if I get an offer from company A but still potentially interviewing with company B and waiting to hear if I’m moving forward in their process? Company B would be a dream job…

I’ve been out of work for two years. I will accept the first job that comes my way. I can negotiate a raise later if things work out.
